Creating Chemistry with BASF

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, BASF wanted to help connect people and ideas around the globe, through a co-creation program called Creator Space. The goal was to focus on urban living, energy and food.

For the US leg of the campaign, Bloomberg partnered with BASF to create a US-based exhibit/classroom where the world’s biggest thinkers, experts, makers, initiatives and products could connect to explore the role of chemistry in addressing local challenges. In New York, Amanda Burden, Principal at Bloomberg Associates, and former New York City Planning Commissioner from 2002 to 2013, gave a keynote address on the importance of public spaces in successful urban design. Throughout her presentation, Burden spoke about the reinvention of Red Hook Brooklyn, the creation of public plazas in Midtown Manhattan and general design-thinking and design-philosophy.

Other members of Bloomberg Associates were on hand to discuss the Red Hook project and ways that Bloomberg Associates is helping to city governments to successfully tackle complex and difficult challenges to positively impact the quality of life of their citizens.
