#Newshoring: Delivered to you by UPS

UPS has long been known as a shipping and logistics company, but most business decision makers do not realize they run a significant consulting business, and are major proponents of Newshoring, where small and midsize manufacturers leverage the power of collaboration to let them punch above their weight. Businesses that embrace this strategy situate themselves and their supply chains to take advantage of innovation and demand.

To help bring this phenomenon to life, we created the Bloomberg Newshoring Breakfast Symposiums, which were scheduled simultaneously around the U.S. The sites of the events were not random, as the “where” component of newshoring is of critical importance – Detroit, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh. The cities and regions that remain vital cogs to logistics partners like UPS because of their centralized locations—and, in the case of Detroit, a deep-water port that offers access all the way to the Atlantic Ocean—still retain the legacy infrastructure of their industrial roots. Now, as they seek to reinvent themselves, they are among the new hotspots for innovation and manufacturing potential.

To bring continuity to the three-city discussion, we enlisted a network of info-doodlers render the conversations in exciting visual life.
